Members of the public are being invited to show their support for the armed services this Sunday.
The event celebrates the role local servicemen and women have played in conflict and peacekeeping the world over.
This year the event will be marking the 75th Anniversary of the D Day landings and post Second World War Two conflicts in which many attending will have participated
A march from Regent Street Douglas will begin at 3.00pm and parade along Douglas promenade. Reserves, veterans of all services, emergency services, schools, and uniformed organisations will be taking part in this year’s parade with music by the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band.
Members of the public are encouraged to line the route towards the Villa Marina to show their support.
His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney and the Deputy Mayor of Douglas will be taking the salute at the Villa Marina colonnade.
At 3.45pm a religious service will take place and will be followed by other commemorations in support of the armed forces in the Villa Marina Royal Hall.
A multi-media presentation honouring the work and sacrifice of the Armed Services will also be led by students from Ballakermeen High School before an evening of dancing and entertainment from local stars and the D Day Darlings.
Members of the public who would like to help celebrate Armed Forces Day are encouraged to come along and enjoy the fun, family friendly outdoor entertainment in the Villa Marina Gardens throughout the day, starting at 10.30am.
