Crews tackle large grass fire

Firecrews are at the scene of a large grass and gorse fire in the west of the island.

It’s understood five acres of land has been affected in an area between Patrick Road and the old railway line at St John's.

The blaze has also damaged one of the poles carrying the overhead power lines.

Representatives from Manx Utilities and the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture are also at the scene.
