A £25 million pound development on Lord Street will rid the Island’s capital of a ‘grot spot’ according to Douglas Council Leader David Christian.
The Quayside North project includes a seven-screen ‘omniplex’ cinema, a 200 space car park, a hotel, apartments, shops and restaurants.
Douglas Council had raised concerns with developer Kane Limited over access to the proposed site coming via chapel row.
This has since been moved to North Quay, a comprise which Mr Christian believes demonstrates the developer’s willingness to listen.
Mr Christian told Local Democracy Reporter Ewan Gawne that this development could act as a catalyst for regeneration of the surrounding area:
