Douglas Borough Council has launched a new online Building Control service, as part of a drive to improve use of technology and data.
Applications, fee payments, inspection requests and other features can now be accessed and complete via a new web portal.
The ‘paperless’ push has been hailed by environmental and regeneration committee chairman Ritchie McNicholl.
He says customer feedback has driven the introduction of the new ‘efficent and environmentally friendly’ service, which attempts to streamline a complex process.
‘We can do away with bulky hard copy documents, and allow council officers to view plans electronically while on site’.
