Firefighters were called to a fire at the Energy from Waste Facility yesterday

Crews from Douglas were sent to the scene after receiving reports of a fire in a Steam Turbine at the Richmond Hill facility.

Upon arrival of the first appliance, crews confirmed with staff that the fire had been extinguished however the machinery was retaining heat and likely to reignite.

Crews liaised with onsite specialists to formulate a safe system of work to prevent the turbine from reigniting.

They were on scene for around 90 minutes.
