MHKs to consider new laws governing internet, mobile phones

New legislation governing how mobile phones, the internet and media is used on the Isle of Man will undergo its first reading in the House of Keys next week.
The Communications Bill is designed to take account of how technology has changed since the current laws were written, as well as futureproofing the regulatory regime.
The current Telecommunications Act was written in 1984, before the internet and mobile phones were commonplace, while the Broadcasting Act in 25 years old.
Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey will present the Bill for its First Reading on Tuesday.
