An MHK says she's resigned from her role as the Government's Children's Champion because the post changed.
Daphne Caine revealed the job was narrowed at the end of March, meaning areas such as mental health provision for children, allergy policy in schools and special education needs fall outside her remit.
As a result, the Garff MHK has stepped down from the role but plans to continue to pursue areas that have been brought to her attention during her time in the role.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle thanked her for her work in the post over the last 18 months, praising her enthusiasm, passion and commitment.
Mrs Caine believes she and the Chief Minister disagree fundamentally in the approach they feel is appropriate to champion the needs of children and young people on the Island.
