The Department of Infrastructure has paid £600,000 to buy the horse tram stables from Douglas Borough Council.
The DoI took over the operation of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway last year, with the Council listing the Tramway Terrace stables for sale in 2016 after discontinuing the service.
The Department believes buying this facility will be more cost effective than constructing temporary facilities at Summerland while the Strathallan site is redeveloped.
Investment is now being sought to secure the fabric of the property and improve welfare facilities at the site.
The DoI can also now release the Summerland site, which remains on the market.
