The conscientious objections of workers in the health service were discussed as part of the Abortion Reform Bill debate in this week's sitting of the House of Keys.
MHKs were considering a range of amendments to Ramsey member Dr Alex Allinson's proposed new laws, which would increase access to terminations on the Island.
Douglas East MHK Chris Robertshaw put forward a number of amendments, suggesting the Department of Health and Social Care shouldn't be allowed to refuse a person employment on grounds of conscientious objection.
He wants to see those who object to abortion put their objection in writing.
The Consideration of Clauses stage will continue in two weeks.
