NSC closes following fire

The majority of the National Sports Centre will remain closed until further notice following reports of a fire.

The Douglas facility shut early this evening and has since confirmed the sports halls, squash courts, bowls hall and fitness zone will all be unavailable until further notice, while the pools will be open as normal tomorrow.

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture confirmed the closure is due to a small fire and that everyone was safely evacuated.

The squash courts and bowls hall reopened less than 18 months ago after being badly damaged in floods during 2015.
