The Chief Minister believes a new entertainment and residential complex proposed for Lord Street Bus Station will be a "great asset" for Douglas.
The £25m facility will include a Travelodge, multiscreen Omniplex cinema, restaurants, apartments and a multi-storey car park if the project gets planning approval.
The development, which will be called Quayside North, will go through the planning process later this year, with a view to beginning to two-year construction early in 2019.
Howard Quayle hopes the development, which is expected to create up to 100 jobs, will mean an exciting future for the Island's capital.
The full details of the project are yet to be finalised, but the development would also include new bus shelters similar to those at Liverpool One, as well as a visitor information centre.
