Motorists who had to abandon their vehicles earlier are being urged to return to their cars.
The Department of Infrastructure has gritted the main arterial routes after snow fell across the Island overnight and this morning.
The police are still advising against non-essential travel, but is encouraging those who had to leave their cars earlier to move them if it's safe to do so.
However, a number of roads are still closed including the Mountain Road, while Richmond Hill and the Ballig Bridge area have re-opened.
Further snow showers are expected this afternoon and this evening before becoming lighter and less frequent tomorrow.
