Members of the Coastguard and fire crews were called out after a controlled burn got out of control in Laxey.
A team from Douglas Coastguard was initially called to the scene yesterday evening following reports of a boat fire in the bay.
However, once at the scene the crews realised the blaze was inland and not in the bay, and contacting the fire service.
Firefighters had to use their offroad vehicles to reach the scene, having been guided to the location by the coastguard.
The coastguard was stood down and returned to the station almost two hours after being called out.
