The Department of Health and Social Care hopes redistributing nurses at Noble's Hospital will help save almost £500,000 each year on bank and agency workers.
The Department admits it struggles to attract nurses to the Island, often leaving vital roles vacant.
It's hoped that the nurses from Ward 5 can be redistributed throughout the hospital when the chemotherapy service moves to the ward next year.
The DHSC believes having permanent staff instead of relying on costly agency nurses and bank staff will save up to £480,000 annually.
Agency costs account for the majority of the Department's overspend in the last two years.
