A major review of the Island's civil service could be given the go-ahead at this month's sitting of Tynwald.
Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas will ask Tynwald to receive a report on the current civil service and approve a review by an independent body.
The body would be asked to review the size and structure of the service and whether changes are needed.
It would also look at management spans, grades at executive officer and above and compare salary and benefits to other jurisdictions.
Mr Thomas will ask that the review cost no more than £20,000, having warned earlier this year that the cost of the process could be much higher.
The review was initially suggested by Onchan MHK Julie Edge at June's sitting.
