Fire crews tackle gorse fire in Bride

Fire crews spent three hours tackling a gorse blaze in the north of the Island.

Officers from Ramsey, Kirk Michael, Laxey and Douglas were all called to the fire in Bride yesterday morning.

Crews found a developing fire, and had to work to prevent it from spreading to nearby property, before attempting to stop it spreading further up the hillside.

The Island's Fire and Rescue Service is urging anyone considering carrying out a controlled burn to ensure the Emergency Services have been notified before hand, and consider weather conditions and wind direction beforehand.
