A list of qualified tree felling and maintenance companies will be published to help the Manx public pick the right contractors.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is putting together a list of those who hold the International Society of Arboriculture's Certified Arborist qualification.
DEFA revealed it's launched the list after complaints from the public about shoddy work.
The Department also says it's often asked to recommend contractors for tree felling, but has previously had no way to judge which firms are competent.
To be included, companies must submit proof of their workers' qualifications to DEFA, who will publish the lift online.
