A woman had to be pulled from the water on Douglas beach after the tide pulled her out to sea.
The woman went into the sea by the War Memorial on Friday night around the same time the TT fireworks display was taking place.
Two Coastguard swimmers had to go into the water to recover the woman, who was then escorted to a waiting ambulance.
The coastguard also had to help police who had tried to reach her, and recover life belts which had been thrown from the walkway by members of the public.
The rescue was watched by large crowds who had gathered to watch the fireworks.
