Ferry passengers travelling to and from the Island are being urged to carry identification following the introduction of enhanced security checks at some UK ports.
The Steam Packet Company is asking all those travelling with the operator to carry ID after the UK's terror threat level was raised to critical.
Police have started carrying out identification checks and requiring more vehicle searches before allowing passengers to travel.
The Steam Packet revealed it was given very little notice of the new requirements, which came in at Heysham this afternoon and could be brought in at other ports used by the company.
The Island's ferry operator also confirmed it is fully cooperating with the police's requirements.
