There's a temporary reprieve for road users as the DoI has withdrawn its new charging regime for vehicle tax.
Minister Ray Harmer has withdrawn the Order from today's sitting of Tynwald after he learned that the majority of the Legislative Council were thought to be voting against it.
To pass into operation the Order requires both a majority vote in the House of Keys and the Legislative Council.
The new duty rates have come under fire from a number sectors who claim that the new rates are punishing.
The Department will have to convince Members of Tynwald and will bring a revised Order to the Court at a later sitting.
