This is how the Salvation Army's new building would look if planning permission is granted.

The Salvation Army wants to move to the former Fairfield Junior School site while its new building is constructed.

The organisation recently submitted a planning application to have its current citadel demolished and a more modern facility built in its place on Lord Street.

If approved, the Salvation Army will need to find alternative accommodation for two years, and is hoping to use the existing school building for worship, nursery and other activities.

A change of use planning application has been submitted.

The school is owned by the Department of Education and Children, but hasn't been used since the new Henry Bloom Noble Primary School opened last year.
