No prosecution for 80% of livestock worrying reports

Less than a fifth of reported incidents of livestock worrying on the Isle of Man result in a prosecution.

Since 2014, there have been 65 calls to the emergency services about livestock worrying, resulting in 12 prosecutions.

However, Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey warns the figures include cases of false but well-intentioned calls where no evidence of an offence could be found.

Several of those who have been prosecuted have been charged with offences taking place on more than one date.

The maximum fine for those found guilty of livestock worrying is £2,500.
