The Department of Health and Social Care insists price and quality were both taken into consideration during the tender process for the patient transfer service in Liverpool.
Bridgewater Cars currently take those from the Island with medical appointments in Liverpool from the airport to the hospital, but another provider has won the tender process to take over the service.
The Department insists the quality of the service was treated as importantly as the cost.
The DHSC also says those who bid for the contract were notified of the outcome last week, but that the decision should have remained confidential until March 16th to allow for an appeals process.
Over 1500 people have signed a petition calling for Bridgewater to be allowed to continue as the provider, praising the service provided by the company to Manx patients.
