Dog walkers in Ramsey won't be allowed to walk their pets in Mooragh Park, despite support for the idea from the public.
Ramsey Town Commissioners received 461 responses to a recent public consultation about the town's dog walking bye laws, with more than half in favour of allowing dogs to be walked on leads around the park's footpaths.
However, the local authority was concerned letting dogs in the park could cause problems for children who use the facilities there.
The bye laws will be updated to include a larger prohibit area around the rugby pitch, which a significant number of those responding to the consultation called for.
The changes will have to be approved by Tynwald before then can be enforced.
