The Steam Packet Company is warning sailings could be disrupted or cancelled due to the weather conditions over the next 24 hours.
Winds reaching severe gale force nine are forecast in the Irish Sea this evening as Storm Doris arrives in the British Isles.
The ferry operator will issue an update by 5.30pm to announce whether the 7.45pm crossing to Heysham will go ahead as scheduled.
The company is also warning that tomorrow's 8.45am sailing and the return trip at 2.15pm could be affected.
The sea is expected to be rough to very rough overnight, but conditions are due to improve later tomorrow.
