Final Tynwald sitting of 2016 today

The future of Douglas promenade, the Island's ferry services and public sector housing will be discussed when Tynwald sits later today.

Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer will ask members to approve plans for the reconstruction of Douglas promenade, including shortening the horse tram tracks.

Several schemes have already been before Tynwald, but disagreement over the future of the horse trams has so far proved a sticking point.

The Manx parliament will also discuss the future of sea services between the Isle of Man and the UK.

On the question paper, there are a series of enquiries about public sector housing, including a request for details about void and empty properties.

The possibility of introducing a sugar tax, Manx Utilities' accounts and the single resident record are also up for discussion.

The sitting gets underway from 10.30am.
