Fifteen archers made the best of freezing conditions to shoot at Onchan on Sunday. The round of the day was a WA18 3 Spot (with the Juniors shooting a larger single face version)) shot as part of the Club’s Scratch League.
In the Gent’s Compound Division Pete Mumford just managed to hold off Dave Moore to take the win, with Colin Moore completing the podium. A loss of concentration in the last dozen arrows saw Dave Moore put an arrow into the seven which effectively cost him the round.
Joy Gough put in a solid round as the only representative of Ladies Compound.
In the Gents Recurve Division Josh Trafford had a surprising miss and was a unhappy with his performance but still took the win by a large margin. Tony Hartley shot well below his best to come second, while Matt Elliott added 22 points to his pb for the round to finish third. Alex Parkes also had a good morning adding 32 points to his pb for the round but had to be content with fourth place.
Barbara Harris had a bizarre afternoon in which she either hit the very centre of the target or missed altogether. Her score was well below par.
Fresh from his win at the Northern Counties Championship, Toby Young added an impressive 65 points to his pb for the round to take the win in the Junior Gents Recurve. Aaron Pannell-Cottier added an equally impressive 65 points to his pb to come second, while Jacob Brookes added 1 point to his pb to finish third. Nathan Kinrade was a little off form, probably due to the cold and finished fourth.
Junior Girl Tilly Ashton struggled to find a sight mark but still managed a decent total.
