Fire crews return to headland fire site
Wed, 09 Nov 2016
Fire crews spent six hours tackling the fire on Sunday before returning to damp down hot spots on Monday.
Fire crews had to revisit the site of a large headland fire after hot spots in the area continued to smoke.
Officers from Douglas and Laxey spent six hours dealing with the grass fire believed to have been caused by a firework on King Edward Road on Sunday, but had to return to the scene on Monday.
The difficult terrain and limited water supply meant crews couldn't put all the hot spots out, but they were able to dampen the perimeter, preventing the fire spreading further.
Firefighters spent two hours in the area ensuring that the grass does not reignite.
