The Coastguard is reminding dog walkers to keep their pets on leads when walking near the Island's cliffs.
Crews in Peel were called out yesterday shortly before 6pm after a dog fell at Shell Dump at the back of Peel Hill.
A cliff technician descended to attempt to rescue to animal, but the dog didn't survive the fall.
Anyone whose dog does stray over a cliff is urged not to attempt a rescue themselves, but to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
