A Government Minister’s gamble to stand in the new Constituency of Arbory, Castletown and Malew has failed.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne polled third having been one of the Members of Rushen since 2003. With that Constituency cut to two seats, it was certain that one of the sitting Members would lose their seat. Gawne was elected in third place in 2011 and made the decision to move when part of Rushen was merged with Castletown and Malew.
He told Energy FM that this was the end of the political road for him. (Play Clip)
