The Strand acquisition is a 'vote of confidence' according to the Douglas Borough Council.
Sports Direct announced last month it had taken over the shopping centre and would be moving a store into one of the spaces.
The council claims this shows the potential for the town centre's future economic growth and continued regeneration.
