Taxpayers have been forced to shell out over £1 million to help fund a Douglas car park.

 

Last week Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne revealed what he thought his department had wasted money on over the last five years. 

 

The agreement - between government and Douglas Borough Council for Shaws Brow is in the process of being renegotiated so that support for it can be phased out. 

 

Before these negotiations started Phil Gawne said his department would have faced expensive legal action if it had broken the contract which he described as "poorly drafted":
