Guilty pleas from man who assaulted pregnant girlfriend
Tue, 26 Jul 2016
A Douglas man who lashed out at his pregnant girlfriend during an argument will be sentenced next month.
26-year-old Jordan Walsh pleaded guilty to assaulting his now ex-partner on November 7th last year when she was around 27 weeks pregnant.
She'd left a property in Ramsey after an argument broke out and got into a car outside - Walsh approached the vehicle and kicked the window.
He then got in behind her and, in a bid to retrieve her phone, leant over her digging his elbow into her stomach - the court was told she was left in pain and scared.
Walsh also admitted a second incident of assault from February this year - the court heard an argument had broken out two weeks after the baby was born at their home in Douglas.
He pushed the woman onto the sofa before following her into their bedroom where he picked her up and threw her onto the bed breaking it in the process.
He also grabbed at her leg and twisted her arm above her head during efforts to retrieve her mobile phone.
At Douglas Courthouse last week a further charge of assault and one of indecent assault were withdrawn by the prosecution.
Social enquiry reports have been requested before Walsh is sentenced on August 30th - he's been bailed in the meantime.
