Man's punch caused double facture to victim's jaw
Tue, 19 Jul 2016
A Peel man who punched a fellow pub patron whilst holding a glass bottle has pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.
24-year-old Mark Cain caused a double fracture to his victim's jaw, as well as a fracture to his wisdom tooth, when he lashed out on Lake Lane on June 10th.
At Douglas Courthouse last week he admitted a charge of assault - the court heard he'd been drinking until the early hours at The Creek Inn when he met up with another group of people.
When the pub shut at 1.45am an argument broke out when Cain noticed one of the group was holding his phone - he became "angry and aggressive" and punched out.
Entering his basis of plea Cain said he mistakenly thought the victim was going to attack him but realised his actions were "excessive and unreasonable".
Cain was committed for sentencing at the Court of General Gaol Delivery - he's been bailed until his next appearance on July 27th.
