Ayre Clay Target Club hosted two championships at Blue Point at the weekend. Saturday’s shoot was the Pheasant Flush, kindly sponsored by Active Cleaning Services Limited. Phil Butler and Kevin Oates were the winners of the two man team competition. Dave Clague and Clementine Kermode-Clague were second. There was a tie for third between Eddie and Steve Brew and Marty and Jack Kneen. The Brews came out on top in the shoot-off to claim third.

 

Jeff Corkill was the convincing winner of the English Skeet Manx Championship on Sunday, which was sponsored by Sadler Agricultural Supplies. Junior shooter Michael Cross took silver and Kevin Oates won bronze after a shoot-off with Paul Mihailovits.

 

The fifth round of the English Skeet 50 league was shot at the same time. Corkill was the winner, with Kevin Oates and Madeline Simpson joint second.

 

Results of the 50 target Penketh-Millar English Skeet league competition:

A Class: 1, Jeff Corkill 49; 2, Kevin Oates 48; 3=, Dave Corlett, Juan Cowley and Martin Kneen 47.

B Class: 1, Bob Corlett 43; 2= Phil Butler and Ben Richards 42.

C Class: 1, Madeline Simpson 48; 2, John Kneen 42; 3, Peter Lowe 36.

 

This weekend is a 100 ABT Selection shoot on Saturday, with entries closing at 12.30pm. Sunday’s competitions are 100 Olympic Skeet Selection shoot and 50 Sportrap league shoot. Entries for both close at 10.15am.
