A persistent shoplifter has been jailed for 12 weeks and told to stay away from alcohol.
46-year-old Christine Metaxas was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse last week.
The Ramsey woman had previously admitted six counts of theft from shops in the town between April and May this year.
On each occasion she stole alcohol - the total value of the items she took was around £70; on one day she returned to the same shop twice to steal.
Sentencing her Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said it was evidence she loses her 'cognitive abilities' when alcohol is involved.
Sending her to prison she told her "you must take advantage of the help available to you and stay away from alcohol".
