Minister asked to explain Post Office safeguards
Tue, 24 May 2016
The Economic Development Minister is being asked to provide reassurance over potential plans to corporatise the Post Office.
In the House of Keys today Laurence Skelly will reveal what safeguards are in place to stop the office "competing unfairly".
Onchan MHK Peter Karran wants to know how he plans to stop the office cross subsidising postal services with profits generated in other markets.
Plans to corporatise the Post Office failed in April - despite Tynwald voting in favour of the principle of corporatisation the specific plan put forward was rejected.
Mr Skelly will also be asked to confirm whether the Post Office would be required to lodge its accounts with Companies Registry if it is set up as a new company.
