"Deep concerns" have been raised about what would happen to staff at the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre if the entertainment venues were outsourced.
That's according to Prospect which says it's concerned about the long term implications due to the "essential service" the hubs offer to the local community.
The union says it's been part of the discussions with the Department of Economic Development about the future of the operation - and is now awaiting further information.
Negotiations officer Angela Moffatt says the public sector has a "bad record" of handling change and other options need to be explored:
