Over 50s to self-refer for hearing assessment and aid

Over 50s suffering from hearing problems can now speak directly to audiologists.
The head of Audiology at Noble's Hospital says people can now refer themselves on for hearing assessments and the provision of hearing aids.
In the past, GPs made a decision based on thorough consultation and examination.
People with a sudden onset of hearing loss, tinnitus, earaches and pains, or episodes of dizziness should still be seen by a doctor.
New measures are to encourage people to take responsibility for their health and well-being. Stephen Griffiths says it's more than a physical disability:
