Fencibles welcomed back Kevin Harding for his first match of the season following an ankle injury and were also further strengthened having Joe Burrows back from University. A hard fought win for Castletown/Abbey with four good experienced men, and a break with 'tradition' as Selborne lost both mens yet won both womens! Castletown/Abbey's Stu Lyon and Graham Coffey took second mens in two games against Ray McMullen and Raymond Gawne, while Selborne's Renee Michalogiannis and Sue Richardson beat Sinead Stephens and Claire Townsend 21/14 18/21 21/11. Peter Hadfield and Nick Thornley were made to work hard for their narrow 21/19 22/20 win over an improving Selborne's Adi Oen and Shibu Augustian, whose Selborne team mates Fe Gawne and Sue Young took first womens in two versus Hannah Clague and Hayley O'Meara. Difficult to separate the pairs at fourth mixed as Selborne's McMullen and Michalogiannis lost a lengthy battle 20/22 22/20 20/22 against Lyon and Townsend, while at third Coffey and Stephens extended the away side's lead with a close 21/19 21/15 win over Raymond Gawne and Richardson. Oen and Young lost in three to Castletown/Abbey's Thornley and O'Meara at second mixed, before Selborne's Augustian and Fe Gawne got a much needed win 21/15 13/21 22/20 over Hadfield and Clague at first mixed.
