In last week’s matches, IoMSC Sandsiders were convincingly beaten posting a Division 1 score of 474 x 500. This week, Laxey welcomed the St Johns based team and the visitors turned the tables in a very closely fought match and came away Division 1 winners recording a terrific 487 x 500. Just 2 points separated the Division 1 teams at the end of the evening, but a 99 by Andy Traynor and 98’s for Bill Jones and Steve Callus, gave that small lead for the nine man team.
For the hosts, Suzanne Curphey claimed top slot on 98 with 97’s going to Stephen Curphey, Harry Creevy and Gemma Kermode. As a consolation, Laxey claimed a win in Division 2.

Port St Mary claim wins in all three Divisions
A fantastic score, the highest so far in the Association League this season, from the leaders of all three Divisions, Port St Mary, of 493 x 500 must have been deflating for the visiting team from Sulby who also produced an excellent result in Division 1 of 487 which on any other occasion would have been a winning score. There is no doubt that the ‘Port have an abundance of youth – four of which were in the top six scores, a situation several of the other local teams must envy. Kevan Kneale, a rather surprised Gary Knight and Ashley Gardner junior led the way on 99’s with two more juniors, Ashley’s sister Jackie and George Dalton-Brown on 98.
Sulby although maybe a little deflated, should not be too disheartened, as a junior led their team too – Fergus Coulter hit 98 along with Julian Teare and 97’s went to Mark Cain, Barry Jones and Peter Webb.

Kirk Michael post a good result at IoMSC Douglas
Once again this week, Kirk Michael faced tough opposition with a very small squad of just eight shooters however, they should be very proud of their Division 1 score of 480, their best score so far this season. Their opposition on this occasion was IoMSC Douglas at Sinclair and the home team posted four 98’s in Division 1 which went to Mark Osborn, Andy Potter, Tracey Skelton and Mike Clague – Dave Humphrey “spoilt the party”, recording a 97.
Mathew Wernham for the visitors, has only been shooting for a few weeks and he led the small Northern team on 97, followed closely by Suzanne McKnight, Tom Lord and another team member who has only been shooting for a few weeks, Tommy Ardis all on 96 – Perryn Callister made up their Division 1 team on 95.

Dates for your diaries
I apologise as I was a little premature in last week’s column but these are the last matches for 2015. The Leagues recommence on January 4th with IoMSC Douglas travelling north to Sulby, Castletown welcoming Laxey at the Stadium and Port St Mary also go north to take on the minnows at Kirk Michael.
I would like to offer the season’s best wishes to everyone involved in the sport - competitors, fun shooters, social members, supporters and especially our sponsors. The League recommences on Monday January 4th.
