Failures with the pupil database present an opportunity to update the system.
It was shut down when it was found that data on the Island's school children was collated unlawfully.
That's legal and administration manager Andrew Shipley - he says it's time to look at putting legislation in place to simplify the process.
The Department of Education and Children is looking into using Structured Query Language; which allows services to find pupils quickly across the database.
