A Ramsey man who was so hungry he threatened to kill someone so he'd be sent to prison where he'd have "three meals a day" has found himself behind bars.
At Douglas Courthouse last week 23-year-old Michael Brown pleaded guilty to one charge of provoking behaviour.
The court heard how an "angry and agitated" Brown went to the benefits office in Ramsey on July 8th where he was said to be "ranting and raving" over missing benefit payments.
He made a series of threats in the presence of the lone female staff member telling her "I'll come back tomorrow and kill someone if it means I get a meal" - he also threatened to kill his landlord.
His advocate told the court they were "idle threats said in the heat of the moment" but he accepted his comments had gone too far.
Social enquiry reports have been requested - Brown has been remanded in prison before his next court appearance on July 30th.
