The two Crown Post Offices in Douglas and Ramsey will close regardless of public duty - and the lost jobs will be outsourced.
That's the prediction from Communication Workers Union national official Terry Pullinger - who says it has been a fruitless debate, as the Isle of Man Post Office bosses will shut them anyway.
The CWU has met with Chief Minister Allan Bell to discuss the potential closure of the offices following its proposal to defer the decision.
19 people face redundancy or redeployment if the closures go ahead.
