Public urged to get behind credit union plans

Establishing a Manx Credit Union will help address serious concerns about payday loan companies operating on the Island.

The working party behind it is calling on people to respond to the Financial Supervision Commission's public consultation.

It's looking at regulations ahead of the draft of a new Credit Union Bill - chairman David Talbot says it's important it doesn't become too technical.

He wants people to register their interest to show their support in an effort to move the creation of the union higher up government's agenda:
