Rate and refuse increases for Peel residents
Fri, 30 Jan 2015
Residents in Peel are being hit with a rate increase and a jump in refuse charges.
Rates are going up by over two per cent to 252 pence in the pound and refuse will increase by £1 per dwelling to £170.
The commissioners are blaming central government's decision to transfer services to the local authorities.
However they say in an effort to minimise refuse disposal costs they will urge residents to recycle more and are setting up new recycling stations in the area.
