Mountain Road closed due to severe gale force winds

The Mountain Road will be closed from 12pm today, until 6pm, as a precaution against the impending storm force winds.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning with gusts expected to reach 80 mph in exposed locations and possibly stronger on higher ground.

The south and west of the Isle of Man are expected to be worst-hit - with the height of the storm likely to occur until late afternoon.

The situation will be under constant review and the roads may be reopened ahead of time if the conditions ease.
