The Steam Packet fast craft Manannan has been hit with yet more technical problems.

Monday evening's Liverpool - Isle of Man 8.30pm Service was cancelled, but not after passengers had been on board for over 3 hours waiting for information.

They were eventually offloaded shortly after 10.45pm.

Vehicle drivers were offered space on the sailing from Heysham at 02.15am although were told that space was 'limited'. Heysham is a 68 mile journey from the Liverpool Port.

Foot passengers were understood to have been offered overnight accommodation in a hotel.

Disgruntled passengers told Energy FM that there had been very little communication from the Company as to what was happening.

MHK David Cretney hit out at the Steam Packet on his Social Media page saying, "Feeling very sorry for the passengers on the sea cat tonight ...our Julie and lots of other young people coming back from Leeds amongst others...I will be contacting the Steam Packet management about poor communication with customers...really not good enough. This needs sorted out it's not as if it's just a " one off".

With Manannan laid up in Liverpool overnight, the Steam Packet have been forced to cancel this morning's Isle of Man - Belfast service and its Return.

Passengers who were due to travel to Belfast (or to the IOM from Belfast) are being advised to contact Steam Packet Reservations on 01624 661 661 after 06.00am this morning (Tuesday).
