Tynwald has approved the new so-called ‘toilet tax’.
It will be come into force in April regardless of widespread resistance - over 6,300 people have signed a petition opposing its introduction.
The Water and Sewerage Authority will now charge households £50 this year - with this rising to £100 next year.
It's in an effort to cover a £2 million gap in the authority's finances.
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says there’s another reason why people are being asked to pay:
