The 20 man Isle of Man team, shooting in Division 6 of the National Small-bore Rifle Associations postal league, were beaten in round 1 by the team from Ulster County, most of whose team members are well known to the local shooting fraternity. Results for the locals were:- Richard Arthur 100, Marion Jones (L) 99, John Wood 99, Mike Duncalf 98, Willy Jones 98, Chris Birtwhistle 98, Jess Clague 97, Ashley Gardner (Jnr) 97, Suzanne McKnight 97, Harry Creevy 96, Kevan Kneale 96, Nigel Christian 96, Gary Knight 96, Andy Potter 95, Ashley Gardner (Snr) 95, Mark Cain 95, Kevin Quinn 94, Tracey Skelton 94, Harry Harrison 93 and Lorrie Thompson 92 resulting in a total score of 1925 x 2000 – the Ulster team scored 1935 x 2000 – the highest recorded score in Division 6.
In the NSRA Women’s Postal League, the five shooters were also beaten, this time by just 8 points by Norfolk County Rifle Association. Full results were:- Marion Jones 99, Tracey Skelton 97, Jess Clague 95, Lorrie Thompson 94, Suzanne McKnight 93 – total 478 x 500 – Norfolk’s team posted 486 x 500.
